ULTRA SOUND

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the inside of your body. These waves bounce off internal structures, and their echoes are captured to form an image. It’s a safe, noninvasive method to evaluate organs, soft tissues, and blood flow—without using any radiation.

What to expect during an Ultrasound

Depending on the exam type, you may be asked to wear a gown.

A small handheld probe, called a transducer, is placed directly on your skin (or within a body opening if needed).

A thin layer of gel is applied to ensure sound waves pass smoothly into the body.

You may be able to see the scan in real time, but results will only be provided after a Radiologist carefully reviews the images. Your referring doctor will discuss the findings with you.
